Why am I a member:
I have been studying martial arts and swordplay since first seeing Star Wars and Highlander when I was a kid. The whole concept of a Jedi and Samurai made sense to me. I've also studied eastern philosophy for over fifteen years, along with computer graphics and systems programming. The technology now available to us is simply overwhelming, and I think that we are now at a time when people can not be afraid to use technology as a tool to improve and express themselves, while having fun at the same time.

One word: Sabers. Ever since the age of 11 when the first Star Wars movie premiered, I was fascinated not just with the weapon itself, but the usage, the style behind it, the discipline it takes to wield it. I've always been somewhat of a fan of martial arts and swordwork, and this was the perfect way (albeit a couple decades later) to indulge my fascination for both. And if you told me in 1977 that in a couple decades I'd be running around in red & black facepaint wielding a saberstaff at major cons around the country.........I'd say "Why wait that long?"

Why am I a member: I have always had a fascination with the art of the sword. For about a decade I have been a fencer in the MSR, a medieval recreation group. Why am I a member: A Calling if one may say. I've seen Star Wars. Lived and breath with others who share the same views on the films. Jedi was the way for me to go and ever thought of taking up a glowstick and have a good old time seeing if I can do my part against someone else with one. I had my Jedi character in the works in many different Star Wars and non-Star Wars areas that finally I wanted to do it for real. After Comic Con 09 I couldn't disagree that NY JEDI was all about the shiny...and learning how to use it correctly for safety stage combat environment. I have many people I consider here to be family, which I look up to and ask for support when ever something had to be answered or brought into the light of things. Let it be Saber or just goofing off it is all great to know others, like me, do exist.
