THE PLAN: (please keep this confidential) - Attack Plan.

The plan: We will be on-float during this year's Halloween Parade with Disorient and Kostume Kult (sponsored this year by Sparks!) traveling up 6th Avenue, when all of a sudden a secret Darth Knight will jump out in front of the float and activates his Lightsaber! A Jedi Master on the float jumps out to meet him with his lightsaber blazing! He doesn't see the other SITH WARRIORS SURROUNDING HIM! OH NO! What will he do!?! Have his Jedi friends join him in kicking Sith butt! The sequence is detailed out here in the Attack Plan. (We've based team ups based on what we've seen from each person's skill level. We hope you agree.)

We now have a bunch of sword savvy people who can make a choreographed light saber battle look really cool, and help create a lightsaber Battle Enactment in the middle of this year's Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. Presently, we're looking at 6 Jedi and 6 Sith. You can be anything you want, but you are responsible for your own costume or character.

Music: Keep in Mind that there will also be a customized soundtrack for this enactment. Performers will be taking their direction durring the fight scene from musical cues, which we talk about here.

If you read the attack plan, you will see a large group of Stormtroopers heading up the escort partrol. The Empire City Garrison is a collective of great people who were with us last year giving our float a complete military escort of Stormtroopers and Speeder Troopers up 6th Avenue, and they've confirmed they will be there again this year. Here's their site. http://www.empirecitygarrison.com/

Last years float with the Empire City Garrison, 501 Stormtrooper crew.

Here's one of the songs we're basing the fight scene around. This particular song will be a main part of the scene but there will be other songs and sounds mixed in. This song is based on 20 seconds between changes. It's got a good, tough rhythm to it, using double time, or half time. Plus, if you open the song in your preferred music player, you can see that at 21 seconds, the next part of the songs starts. Try thinking of your part in the fight scene changing every 20 seconds, or your charactor is killed at the end of that 20 second section. Try sparring for 20 seconds and you see just how long it is. Remeber, we need to get this scene done quickly so that the parade can continue.

The Song: The Crystal Method - The Name of the Game

NEW: The actual Soundtrack - Here is the soundtrack that we we will be fighting to. If you have the newest attack plan, and play your mp3 player along to this, you will see the story unfold. There are real sound effects matching when you all will be turning on your lightsabers.

TRAINING / CHOREOGRAPHY

The workouts have been awesome! Thanks for everyone coming down to get ready for such a fun project. We've been starting to discuss the plan and what people want thier parts and fight sequence to look like in the scene. We've even touched on various moves, rolls, and two saber style fighting!

There can be only one remaining. DARTH PUMPKIN!!! You now have a picture of him below.

Videos: There are some amazing fan films out there. Check out this one, it's a little silly, but the saber fights are good : http://theforce.net/fanfilms/shortfilms/duelfakes/, and this one has REALLY good fighting in it. http://theforce.net/fanfilms/shortfilms/faith/index.asp. More will be coming soon.

Darth Pumpkin, Rome, John, Mike & Agatha, and Bruna at Fighthouse Lightsaber practice on Tuesdays.

Rome Kanda, www.romekanda.com, has been teaching a group of us Samurai Stage Combat. These skills fold right into what this battle will need to look really cool. If you would like to attend, his classes are also held at Fighthouse. His next class is this Saturday, October 29th from 3-5pm.

Here's more pictures from this week's choreography class.

THE JEDI / SITH PERFORMERS, updated 10/05/05

Here's our current list of CONFIRMED performers. We are trying to have the lightsaber colors coordinated so the crowd can tell who's who. So the Sith players should have all red while the Jedi are various colors.

LIGHTSABERS

We have been practicing with the Master Replicas Force-FX lightsabers, which are usable to duel with, but we have been finding them somewhat easy to get damaged when used for practice too often. However they do look and feel the best!

To practice we will be making mock sabers with which to spar and train. You can easily use a very cheap lightsaber flashlight toy and replace the cone with a Polycarbonite tube.

We also like the following websites that teach you and sell parts to build your own fully working Jedi Lightsaber!

ABOUT US

We are a group of costumers, performers, actors & non-actors, and martial artists who have a particular passion for swordfighting, and lightsabers! This enactment has no affiliation with Lucas Flim or Lucas Arts Entertainment. It is strictly for the benefit and pleasure of the performers and audiences alike, but to also show how you can change your perception of your surroundings, simply by putting on a costume. And above all, it's fun!

Soon, we are planning a program that with work with local martial arts schools and share the fun of sparring with lightsabers to help promote teamwork and self-esteem.

Special thanks to and Disorient and Costume Network!
